Better than Botox Bone Broth
Ingredients
-
Filtered water
-
Bones (beef, chicken, or fish of grass-fed, hormone-free animals)
-
A splash of vinegar (it helps to pull more nutrients out of the bones)
-
Any veggies you have on hand (Some great examples are carrots, onions, turnips, parsnips, celery, mushrooms, leafy greens like kale or spinach. The possibilities are endless.)
-
Spices, such as peppercorns, fresh garlic, turmeric, ginger, cayenne pepper, cumin (or, for extra iodine, you can put in a bit of kelp or kombu)
-
Herbs such as parsley, dill, basil, rosemary, or bay leaves
-
For added minerals, you can add sea salt
Method
-
Into a large stockpot, put in bones, herbs, spices, and veggies.
-
Fill filtered water right over to the top of your ingredients.
-
Bring to boil over med/high heat, then reduce to low and simmer.
-
Cook at least 12 to 48 hrs. (Remember to spoon off any foam that forms on top of the pot; while this is technically okay to eat, it can make the broth cloudy and affect flavor and texture.)
-
Cool and strain through a sieve or cheesecloth.
-
Transfer to glass jars and store in the fridge for several days or in the freezer for longer.
-
You can also freeze in ice cube trays to nourish recipes with.

Tip: You can cook and roast your bones before adding to your pot. 350 deg for around 20 to 30 min. This will give it a beautiful color and a nice rich texture.
