If you were one of those fortunate enough to stay home during the shutdown, it was a rare yet spiritual opportunity to do a check-in on your life and reevaluate where you are and what direction you wish to continue in. Determining where you go is important as far as success and happiness and fulfillment go. If you did not get this opportunity, it’s not too late. Pick a quiet space, make a cuppa, and meditate on this amazing New Year. After all, we have the power to make it great!
We cannot direct the wind, but we can direct the sails.

Reflection
Q) Am I happy where I am right now? How can I change direction to make my life better?
A) This is huge, because if you are not satisfied with life and what you are getting out of it, you and no one around you will be happy and satisfied. The energy and light you put out will and does reflect onto others. Here is a good example: Remember that grouchy guy at work this morning? How did he make you feel? What kind of mood did he put you in? By the end of the day, you probably felt drained and grouchy too. Working on this aspect of our lives will benefit both ourselves and the ones around us. The need and craving for happiness and peace need to be met in order to have a fulfilling life. You were put on this earth to thrive and enjoy life! We need to recognize our unhappiness in order to fix it. Believe it is possible, and it will happen! You just have to walk through that door. It all depends on how passionate you are and how bad you want it.
Q) Do I give enough of myself to my family and others?
A) We live busy lives. This is a fact. Time goes fast. We need to pace ourselves back a bit. The giving of ourselves is one of the most unselfish acts we can do. Spend lots of time with your family and friends. Make beautiful memories. It’s those memories that will get you through the hard times. Go on that trip you have been meaning to. Let everyone know how much they mean to you. Time waits for no man.
Q) Am I giving enough of myself to myself?
A) Depending on how you were brought up, you have certain distinct patterns to the way you think and do things in life. A lot of us were always told to put others before ourselves. This is partially correct. It is right to take care of our own or the people we love and care for, but if you don’t take care of you as a whole, you are no use to yourself, let alone anyone else. It’s okay and good for you to pamper yourself and give yourself some self-care. Take a bath. Meditate or read a book. We need to put ourselves first every now and then in order to balance our lives. And in return you can be there for others. It doesn’t make you selfish. If anything, it makes you caring and loving.
Q) Am I healthy mentally and spiritually?
A) Mama always would say: Give it to God and let go. We put a lot of pressure on ourselves and hold crosses on our backs. Sometimes it becomes too much. It’s during this time that we need someone to take that burden. This is where your spirituality comes into play. Stress and anxiety go away when you know someone else will take over and is always there to listen. Knowing that God is always there is a great comfort and fills us with love and joy.
So with that, let’s rejoice at a chance to make this year better than the last. Let’s make this a year of change and a year of greatness, finally becoming a more improved and better you.
Happy New Year and Happy New You!!
